We have so much fun during this time of year. I loved themed lessons and units, and it’s all about turkey in our class in November. Below are some of the activities we use in the month of November.
Thanksgiving-Themed Pack
I have a Thanksgiving Fun pack on TPT that includes math (elapsed time, counting money, logic puzzles), word work (parts of speech activity, making words, common vs. proper nouns, ABC order, word wall words that double as center words) and writing (two acrostic poems, a thankful mini-book, list poem template). QR Code Turkey and Thanksgiving Stories Mini-Book

This is a great activity for early finishers during the month of November, or as something to use during the short week of Thanksgiving break. It is full of QR codes for different Thanksgiving and turkey stories. Each story has questions and activities that go along with it.
Other Awesome TPT Resources
I use Rooted in Reading by Amy Lemons and Katie King in my class. If you haven’t checked it out, it’s worth every penny for those of you who love having themed weeks. November includes language arts lessons and activities for the books Turk and Runt, The Rough-Face Girl, Stone Soup and Those Shoes. These are geared toward second grade, but Amy and Katie are currently releasing a third grade Rooted in Reading.
That said, due to how our curriculum maps out, we have standards to meet that fall outside Rooted in Reading, so we’re often supplementing with other material. Last week we taught Main Idea and Detail with Turk and Runt, and found THIS freebie to go along with it. The turkeys turned out very cute.
